What is a charter school?

A charter school is a public school that is contracted and authorized by an authorizer (North Fond du Lac School District).

Is Treffert Way part of the North Fond du Lac School District?
YES, Treffert Way students are part of the NFDL School District and have access to all NFDL services and opportunities (food service, counseling, etc.).

Does Treffert Way have a separate schedule / calendar from other NFDL schools?
YES, Treffert Way follows a schedule where students have off or work virtually on Fridays. Families are able to schedule appointments and other therapies on these days so students do not miss school during the week. This also allows staff members at Treffert Way time to collaborate and plan for student success.

Are students able to join clubs and/or play sports with other NFDL students?
YES, Half of current Treffert Way students play sports or are involved in NFDL extracurricular activities.

Does my child have to have an IEP to attend Treffert Way?
NO, Treffert Way is open to ALL students in grades K-8. We work to meet each student where they are at on their academic and social journey.

What is the process to apply for Treffert Way Charter School?
Treffert Way is open to ALL students. There is an application that should be completed in order to demonstrate interest and begin the process. The link can be found on the Application and Enrollment section of the website.
